St. Louis Real Estate Voice Public Service Announcement!

Public AnnouncementIf you need a copy of your deed, beware of the on-line, out-of-state offers.

Steve Birmingham, a staff writer for the St. Louis County Journals, wrote an article about overcharging for copies of deeds. It was published on page A2, Wednesday, May 9, 2007. The article states that;

1. You should have a copy of your deed if you were involved in a “real estate” transaction.

2. If you need a copy, you can get one from the Recorder of Deeds http://revenue.stlouisco.com/RecorderofDeeds for about $3.00 to $4.00 a page, usually two pages.

3. On-line offers are rip offs at $59.50.

Thanks Steve for the heads up. Steve can be contacted at sbirmingham@yourjournal.com
